Does My Pressure Washer Contractor Need to Use My Water?

Pressure washing contractor wants to use my water, don't they bring their own.  Yes and yes.  When you use your own pressure washer or one rented from a big box home improvement store, water is fed directly from your outside spigot.  Garden hose is run from the hose bib directly to the pump.  A pro will also need to connect your homes water.  They what is that big water tank for on their truck or trailer?  That tank is a "buffer tank."  Typical flow from your outdoor spigot is between 4 and 6 gpm (gallons per minute.). Most home owner grade pressure washers put out 2.5 gpm or less. and the highest flow rate rental units might reach 4 gpm.  Most pros are using 5.5 or higher pumps.

To avoid running out of water and damaging equipment or stopping work, commercial pressure washers pull from a 100 to 400 gallon tank that is being filled by the home owners water.  Clean Slate ProWash LLC uses a 5.5 gpm soft wash system and a 8 gpm pressure washer.   Our trailer has a 200 gallon buffer tank.  So with out a customer water source, we would only be able to spray for 25 to 35 minutes at a time.

What about cost?  Won't our water bill be super high?  Don't worry, there shouldn't be any noticeable increase in your water bill. Current JEA water rates are only a few dollars per 1000 gallons.  Click here to see current JEA water usage rates. Actually our high flow equipment will likely use less water than using your pressure washer.  Here is an example - Might take a home owner 3 to 4 hours to pressure wash their own 1000 square foot driveway with a 2.5 gpm pressure washer with a wand. Same 1000 sqft driveway cleaned by Clean Slate ProWash with our 8 gpm machine and commercial surface cleaner, likely have take less than an hour of continuous spraying.  Homeowner DIY - 2.5 gpm x 4 hours = 600 gallons of water used.  Pro - 8 gpm x 1 hour (or less) = 480 gallons.

Have a unique project without an onsite water source?  In some special projects, Clean Slate ProWash can bring in a water truck or even tap into your street's fire hydrant.  Both of these options come with additional cost an planning.  Please call us at 904-860-8760 if you have any concerns about water usage.
